Gardens

The Gardens were landscaped and planted when the house was restored 28 years ago. In keeping with the location the main planting scheme is informal mixed woodland and local plants like rosemary, broom, wisteria and lavender.

The Upper Terrace

The upper terrace has a mixture of deciduous and coniferous trees, perfect for hanging hammocks and lazing in the shade with a book. You will find a number of hammocks in the utility room and then you can play find the hooks around the upper terrace. Wild roman mint grows across the terrace and is perfect for a simple butter/lemon/mint pasta sauce.

The Middle Terrace

This terrace surrounds the house and contains the pool and several patio areas for dining alfresco or sunbathing. There are a couple of fig trees that provide the most wonderful ficchi bianchi in the late summer and wisteria and bougainvillaea shrubs to give colour and perfume. Bordering the terrace there is a walnut tree and several cypress trees.

The Lower Terrace

The lower terrace is largely made up of  mixed woodland where the fireflies dance in the early summer evenings. The open spaces on this terrace are perfect for playing boules and Frisbee.
